Collection Schedule

Trash pickup is weekly on Fridays. During the summer months (week after Memorial Day through Labor Day) there is a second weekly trash pickup on Tuesdays.

Recycling pickup is every other week on Fridays.

Holiday Collection Delays

Collections are delayed by one day for the rest of the week after a weekday holiday, including New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

Collection Services Provider

Trash and recycling services, contracted by ELS, are provided by Waste Management .

Trash and Recycling Bins

Distribution of bins is managed by the office, not Waste Management. Replacement bins are available by contacting the park management office .

Dumpster Access

ELS traditionally provides access to the dumpsters in the maintenance yard each spring and fall to coincide with the yard sale weekend. Watch for announcements to confirm that this will occur and what type of wasted will be accepted.

Yard Waste

DNREC bans yard waste from all Delaware landfills. The trash services provided by ELS do not include separate yard waste pick up. DNREC provides yard waste collection information listing DSWA sites as well as local business which accept yard waste. After major storms and often during dumpster days, ELS provides access to the park dumpsters for disposal of yard waste.

Delaware Solid Waste Authority

The DSWA hosts household hazardous waste collection, electronic goods recycling, and paper Shredding events throughout the year.

The Long Neck Collection Station (28963 Mount Joy Road, Millsboro, DE) accepts bagged household garbage (fee), yard waste (fee), single-stream recycling, cardboard, used motor oil, used oil filters, and batteries.

The Route 5 Transfer Station (29997 John P. Healy Drive, Harbeson, DE) accepts bulk trash (fee based on weight) including  used appliances, tires, and yard waste. The station also accepts single-stream recycling, household batteries, used motor oil, and used oil filters.
